The amazing and the unusual are much closer to you than you think. To find yourself in a strange, mystical place, you do not need to travel to distant lands. Or you can, for example, just go to the Kaliningrad region. Are you surprised? Yes, there is a lot of mystery in this area! In this article, we will cover some of these places.

Shattered stone

It is also called the stone of lies. It is located in Pionersky. An interesting legend is associated with him.

A long time ago, a sailor lived in these places. He fell in love with a beautiful woman who lived nearby. The girl answered him in return. But the sea called the wanderer, he had to sail away for a while … Before sailing, the lovers swore fidelity to each other. They swore an oath near an unusual stone, a shattered stone.

Some time passed, the sailor returned home. The beloved greeted him with joy. But for some reason, doubt crept into the sailor's heart … He took his beloved to the split stone and there asked her if she was faithful to him. The girl answered in the affirmative. And then lightning struck from the sky and instantly killed the unfaithful beauty. According to another version, the girl was crushed by a split stone.

Some argue that before the events described in the legend, the stone was intact, and it was just a punishing lightning that split it. Others say that this place was special even before the story of the sailor. They are sure that in ancient times the stone was considered sacred due to its special energy.

Lovers often come here today. They take turns passing between the halves of the shattered stone. It is believed that those who do not remain faithful, this stone can crush (then its parts will close). So far, no fatalities have been recorded near the shattered stone. Perhaps only faithful partners dare to "experiment" …

There is also a version that the stone does not actually punish liars at all, but grants wishes.

Ghosts of Lochstedt Castle

This castle once stood on the territory of what is now Baltiysk. It was built in the 13th century. Once enemy troops approached the castle and laid siege to it. It was winter. The siege lasted a long time. There were too few knights in the castle and they frantically rang the bell, calling for help. But the bell sounded in vain: help could not come because of the weather conditions.

Trying to break through the line of the besiegers, many of the knights died. Only seven people remained in the castle. It was unthinkable to win, so they decided to flee. Six knights left the castle through a secret tunnel. The seventh all this time continued to ring the bell to distract the enemy.

The castle was captured. But soon he was freed by the help that reached the castle. The liberators saw the heroic knight: he lay dead with a sword in his hand. His other hand was still gripping the bell rope.

Since then, strange things have been noticed in the castle. Every winter, during the full moon, six dark figures appeared from the underground passage. They were holding burning candles in their hands. The creatures climbed the wall where the seventh knight died. There they lit another candle and struck the bell several times.

The castle does not currently exist. It has been destroyed and is in ruins. But, they say, locals still hear the bell on winter full moon nights. He strikes seven times, in memory of the heroic knight who saved his friends.

Dancing trees

You can see them on the Curonian Spit. These trees look very unusual. They seem to be dancing a strange dance, bizarrely twisting. Scientists believe that the reason for such "dances" is a special caterpillar. It hits the trunks.

But many locals do not trust these explanations too much. They have their own versions:

  • experiments of the fascists (during the war);
  • UFO interference;
  • an ancient spell of witches.

These versions sound, of course, much more interesting than the story of the harmful caterpillar.

Bell of Vishtynetskoye Lake

Even if you are not interested in anomalous phenomena, this place is worth a visit. Its beauty is compared to Baikal. If you love not only natural beauty, but also unusual stories, then all the more you should visit here.

Once in winter, a sleigh with a large bell was driving on the ice of this lake. It was intended for a nearby church. But the ice cracked and the sled went under the water. And with them the bell.

Since then, near the lake, they say, you can sometimes hear a strange bell ringing. It comes from somewhere under the water. Some believe that this ringing sounds before someone drowns in the lake. Or perhaps it is a warning to unwary bathers.

Music in the sands

You can hear such music not far from Mechnikovo. There are sands where the sounds of a flute or even an organ are heard literally out of nowhere. Mystic? This time, no. Just an unusual structure of the sand. The wind blows, grains of sand rub against each other … And music pours.

Probably, in our country there is no such area with which unusual or mystical stories would not be associated. As you can see, the Kaliningrad region is no exception. If you are interested in everything unusual and strange, you should definitely visit there.
