V Shlisselburg an unusual excursion to Fortress Oreshek, which will turn 700 years old in 2023. Founded by Novgorodians, it belonged to Sweden for almost 100 years, but was conquered by Peter I.

Having lost its strategic importance, the fortress turned into a political prison. The first wife of Peter I, Evdokia Lopukhina, his sister Maria Alekseevna, Wilhelm Küchelbecker, Emperor John VI, served here, and at the end of the 19th century, Vladimir Lenin's brother Alexander Ulyanov was executed.

Later, the fortress played an important role in the history of Russia in the twentieth century. The heroic deed of the defenders of the fortress did not allow the Nazis to close the blockade ring around Leningrad from the east and destroy the Road of Life, which saved the inhabitants of the besieged city. For almost 500 days of artillery shelling of the fortress, the enemies did not manage to take the island, however, at the cost of thousands of lives.

Today Oreshek is a branch of the State Museum of the History of St. Petersburg, which will be interesting for both children and adults. In addition, on this excursion, you can try your dexterity and accuracy at a master class in shooting from a medieval bow and modern crossbow.

Staraya Ladoga was introduced into cruise routes just a year ago, but has already won the love of tourists. According to legend, it was here that the ancient capital of Russia was located. Archaeological research carried out in Staraya Ladoga proves the close contacts of the Slovens, Finno-Ugric peoples and Varangians in this area in the 9th-10th centuries. According to the Novgorod Chronicle, the grave of Prophetic Oleg is located in Ladoga. Here you can visit the museum-reserve or you can choose one of the optional excursions.

According to historical data, two famous trade routes passed through Staraya Ladoga - “from the Varangians to the Greeks” and “from the Varangians to the Arabs”. The first money appeared immediately, whose role was played by beads. One such "coin" in those days could buy a slave.

The main attraction of Ladoga is a fortress built at the confluence of the Ladozhka and Volkhov rivers. The thickness of the walls of the fortress reaches 7 meters, and the height of the towers is 12 meters.

On the territory of the fortress there are several churches, a man's monastery, a mound, where, according to legend, the ancient Russian prince Oleg is buried.

In addition, caves attract tourists to Staraya Ladoga. The largest of them - "Tanechkina" - stretches for 7 km, and inside the cave there is a shallow lake with a depth of 0.5 meters.

Both routes are of medium duration (6 and 7 days), interesting and attractive - both for experienced cruise tourists and for beginners.

In addition, the Sozvezdiya motor ships are equipped with everything necessary for a comfortable stay. Such a trip is comparable to a vacation in a good hotel, but moving along the river. Cabins with all conveniences, with refrigerator, air conditioning, satellite TV; good cuisine, reliable team - all this will make you feel like a dear guest.
