Planning a visit to Ibiza, Cyprus, and take a break on the coolest dance floors of the island of Aphrodite, or sunbathe on the best Mediterranean beaches in between discos? We will tell you how to get to Ayia Napa with the minimum expenditure of time, effort, nerves and money.
First, check if your passport will be valid for the next three months from the date of the end of the proposed trip. This is a prerequisite for obtaining a visa to Cyprus. Secondly, if you are a citizen of Russia and are going to enter Cyprus through the airports of Larnaca or Paphos, you only need to issue an electronic entry permit.
Choosing wings
The international airports of the Republic of Cyprus, including flights from Russia, are located in Larnaca and Paphos. The closest to Ayia Napa is Larnaca. The passenger terminal and the sunny resort are only 35 km away.
Many airlines fly to Larnaca, including directly from the Russian capital:
- The cheapest regular flights from Moscow to Larnaca are operated by Ural Airlines. Even at the height of the swimming season, tickets on board can be bought for 230 euros, provided that you book at least a couple of months before the departure date. The road will take about 4 hours.
- The Belarusian carrier Belavia offers to get to Ayia Napa with a connection in Minsk. The price of the issue is from 260 euros. Leave five hours on the road, excluding the change.
- Low-cost airline Pobeda prices for flights from Moscow to Larnaca and back in the season grow to 265 euros. The aircraft take to the skies from Vnukovo airport and reach Cyprus in just over 3.5 hours.
Larnaca Airport is the largest on the island. You can get to Ayia Napa by taxi or public transport. The second option is significantly cheaper, but involves a transfer in Larnaca itself.
If you choose the cheapest transfer option, take a Zenon bus from the passenger terminal to the city. The price of the issue is from one and a half euros in the daytime to 2, 5 - at night. At the bus station, you will change to Ayia Napa. There are several flights per day, the cost of an adult ticket is about 3 euros.
The second way is to take the N711 bus, which stops near the Finikoudes beach in Larnaca. It is called Archbishop Makariou C Avenue 1. It is easily accessible from the airport by taxi. During the summer season, the bus leaves seven times a day from 8 am to 9.15 pm. The journey takes about an hour, tickets are sold before boarding.
A taxi from the airport to the beaches of Ayia Napa will cost 40-50 euros, and you will have to bargain desperately. This type of transfer is beneficial if you are traveling with your family or company.
How to get to Ayia Napa by car
Arriving at Larnaca Airport, you can rent a car and travel around the island on your own wheels. The only inconvenience from habit may be left-hand traffic, which the Cypriots inherited from the colonial English past.
Useful information for those who are driving:
- The cost of a liter of fuel in the Republic of Cyprus is approximately 1.25 euros.
- There is no toll for the use of roads in the country.
- Parking in the cities of the country is paid. The cost of an hour is about half a euro during working hours on weekdays. In the evening, at night and on weekends, parking is usually free.
- The fine for not wearing seat belts, talking on a mobile phone without using a hand free device and transporting children without special equipment is 85 euros. You will be punished for the same amount for parking on the sidewalk, unwillingness to let a pedestrian through on a zebra crossing, and driving through a red light.
- The traffic police do not allow eating and drinking while driving, as well as having the anti-radar turned off in the car.
The distance from Larnaca to Ayia Napa is about 50 km. You can rent a car right at the airport. You should first move along the B4 motorway, and then exit onto the A3 motorway.
To Ayia Napa from Paphos
Sometimes it turns out to be much more profitable to fly to Cyprus to Paphos. Especially in high season, when tickets to Larnaca are not available or they are more expensive than we would like. S7 Airlines fly directly to the Paphos airport for 300 euros. Their passengers spend 4 hours in the sky.
