UK: Where is the United Kingdom located?
This state (the capital is London) on the northwestern coast of Europe is the British Isles (Atlantic Ocean); it is washed by the waters of such seas as the Irish, Celtic, North and Hebrides. From the coast of Great Britain in the southeast to France (coast in the north of the country) - only 35 km (separated by the English Channel).
As far as continental Europe is concerned, it and the United Kingdom are connected by a 50-kilometer Eurotunnel, which is 38 meters long under water. The only land border of Great Britain is the border, which is 360 kilometers long between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Slightly more than 50% (130395 sq. Km) of Great Britain's territory is occupied by England (9 regions), which has elevations in the form of the Pennine (north) and Cumberland mountains (northwest). Less than a third (78,700 sq. Km) of the United Kingdom is occupied by Scotland (32 regions), which includes about 8 hundred islands. 20,700 sq. Km belongs to Wales (the mountainous country has 22 regions), and 13,800 sq. Km belongs to Northern Ireland (6 counties). The total area of Great Britain is 243,800 sq. Km (17,800 m are “allocated” to the coastline).
How to get to the UK?

The way from St. Petersburg will take 3.5 hours (if you make a stop in Riga with Air Baltic, the trip will last about 9 hours).
Muscovites and guests of the Russian capital who need to be in Manchester will be offered to fly through Istanbul. With Turkish Airlines, the journey will take at least 8.5 hours.
As part of the Moscow - Glasgow flight, tourists will make a transfer at the airport of the French capital (about a day should be allocated for the road), the Moscow - Belfast flight - in London (at least 7.5 hours on the way), and the Moscow - Cardiff flight - in Berlin, Riga and other cities (minimum flight duration - 7 hours).
Holidays in the UK

Popular beaches in Great Britain
- Keem Beach: Bathers flock here in summer and surfers at other times.
- Durdle Door Beach: The golden sand beach has a limestone arch. The beach attracts fans of "wild" recreation, who set up tents here.
- Barafundle Beach: there you will be able to watch seabirds and admire the picturesque corners that filmmakers shoot in famous films. Since the beach is an ecologically clean area, cars are not allowed to enter here.
