South Goa is a comfortable and respectable vacation. There is nothing to do here for hippie youth and fans of trans-party, but there will be something to do for beach-goers and couples with children (at their service - reference landscapes, beaches with light sand, 4-5-star hotels).

Road

The Rossiya airline will take tourists from Sheremetyevo to Dabolim in 7.5 hours. From Moscow and other Russian cities, you can get to South Goa as part of connecting flights, but the duration of such trips will be about 10-20 hours. It is better to take a taxi from the airport to the coast, but depending on the distance of the location of the desired resort, the trip will cost 900-2000 Indian rupees.

Moving

For the convenience of moving, it makes sense to rent a bike (Colva and Margao have large rental points) - they will ask you to pay 70-100 Indian rupees for a day of using the bike.

Those who wish can travel by buses, which are often divided into male and female halves (the cost of the trip is from 5 Indian rupees), or auto-rickshaws (1 km of the journey will cost 9 Indian rupees).

It is not recommended to rent a car, but all because of the chaotic traffic on the roads and the lack of international rental offices (in small private offices they take a cash deposit). Prices for budget car models start at INR 1,600 / day.

Holidays in the resorts of South Goa

Those who decide to relax in the small village of Varka will find first-class hotels there (they will be able to undergo a course of health and beauty treatments based on traditional Indian methods), a Catholic church, shops, a wide sandy coastline. Those who want to watch dolphins frolic in the sea should move to the Betty's Place nature reserve.

Guests of Margao are offered to walk along the Happiness Square, to see the Church of the Holy Spirit (Baroque architectural style) and Monte Chapel (from there a magnificent panorama of the city opens), as well as go on an excursion to the Pandava Caves (they were carved into the rocks in the 5-6th centuries AD)., and painted with frescoes dating back to the 7th century).

In addition to small shops, vacationers in Bogmalo will be able to stock up on essential goods in the large shopping center Manolis Tailors. Before heading to the local beach, it is advisable to check out the Naval Aviation Museum along the way. And those who head to the dive school will be able to undergo training and meet barracuda, moray eels, sea turtles and stingrays under water.

Rest in Majorda means watching seagulls, meeting sea urchins and stars, trepangs and crabs under water, playing beach volleyball and tennis on local beaches, delicious fish dishes served in the Camron Cafe, discos and fireworks held in shekah located on the shore. As for excursions, tourists will be offered to visit the Church of Our Lady - built in 1588.

Colva is popular with fans of the lively nightlife, which is concentrated in the Ziggis and Splash clubs (you should plan to visit them no earlier than 22:00).

South Goa beaches

  • Benaulim Beach: the beach is ideal for swimming, as there are no underwater currents and stones here, and the entrance to the water is gentle. Coastal cafes offer guests free use of towels and sun loungers. Those who wish, taking a boat from the fishermen, can go on a boat trip or fishing, which is organized by the staff of many hotels.
  • Cavelossim Beach: With clams, mussels and starfish washed ashore at low tide, kids love to play on this beach as well as running on the fine white sand. There are sun loungers for a comfortable stay.
  • Betalbatim Beach: This 1.5 km long beach is ideal for relaxation and meditation. There are no sheks found at every step, and the coast is framed by pine groves. The beach is of interest to children and insecure swimmers due to its gentle entry into the water.
  • Betul Beach: Those who get to this beach by motorboat or free ferry will be able to enjoy the freshest seafood, including the most delicious and largest Goan mussels, at local restaurants.
