There are not many places left on earth where you can feel the unity with nature. One such place is Uganda. Excursions in Uganda are preferred by those who want to plunge headlong into the exotic, get closer to nature and get new unusual experiences. This country in eastern Africa is an extraordinary combination of pristine nature and modern skyscrapers.
Uganda is a country of mountain gorillas
It's no secret that humans and monkeys have a common ancestor. And the largest representatives of the primate order are mountain gorillas. Therefore, an excursion to mountain gorillas in Uganda can be called a kind of trip to visit relatives.
Today, there are only about 600 such gorillas left, so their visits have a number of restrictions. The cost of the trip is over a thousand dollars per person, and the visit is available only for small groups. Accompanied by armed rangers and a guide, you will travel into the thick of the Bwindi jungle. Not only mountain gorillas live here, but also rare forest boars, beautiful birds, a large number of elephants and more than ten species of various monkeys. Direct observation of gorillas takes only about an hour. During this time, you can get acquainted with their habits, lifestyle and even family life.
After visiting the gorillas, you can go to the city of Mbarare, and after that - stop at the very equator.
Safari in the national park
Why visit Africa? Of course, to participate in the safari. The cost of the trip to Murchison National Park is about $ 930 per group. The trip itself takes two days and includes visits to the most interesting places in the jungle of Uganda.
The area of the national park is only slightly less than 4 thousand square kilometers. It is here that you can find the largest number of animal species on the entire continent - 450 different birds, 76 mammals and many more insects and other representatives of the animal kingdom. The waterfall itself, after which the park got its name, is very impressive: the stream here falls from a height of 40 meters. The safari begins with a boat trip along the Nile.
During the safari, you can observe crocodiles, elephants, hippos, buffaloes and many birds - the crowned crane, cormorants, pelicans and others in the immediate vicinity. If you are lucky on this journey, you will see not only antelopes, elephants and warthogs, but also a real lion's pride.
National parks - the center of excursions in Uganda
There are many national parks in Uganda, each of which is worth visiting. The cost of a ticket for an excursion to the national park can range from 50 to several hundred dollars, depending on the park and the duration of the trip. And in each of them you can see something special, unique. So, in the Kibale National Park, you can see the rarest, endangered species of chimpanzees, as well as other types of macaques and small monkeys. All these animals need protection and preservation of species, therefore they are taken under protection with maximum preservation of natural living conditions. This park is known for the highest density of primates living on its territory, and in total there are about 13 species of small primates.
This park can be called the most peaceful - here you are not threatened by predatory animals, and the largest animal that you can encounter is the warthog. But more often, visitors to the park only observe birds and monkeys. A walk in the park usually takes place in the morning, starting at 8 am and ending by lunchtime, which takes place right in nature in the form of a picnic.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is located between two lakes - George and Edward. They are connected to each other by the Kazinga channel. The area of the park is about 2 thousand square kilometers, characterized by extremely contrasting territories. There are not only lakes, but also green meadows, dense tropical jungle, swamps and even a little savannah. In the park you can see elephants, antelopes, hippos, bison, baboons, chimpanzees. But the main attraction of this park is the lions climbing trees. Among the birds, the beautiful flamingos are especially noticeable.
