Batumi is a popular Black Sea resort in the Republic of Georgia, which is gaining momentum in tourism every year. So far, the only direction of the ferry from Batumi is the Ukrainian city of Ilyichevsk, renamed in February 2016 to Chornomorsk. This seaport is located in the Odessa region and, despite the status of a city of regional subordination, is one of the three largest seaports in Ukraine in terms of cargo turnover.
The ferry service Batumi - Ilyichevsk is carried out by the Ukrainian company UkrFerry, which has at its disposal two car ferry ships on the indicated route. The ferry "Greifswald" was built in 1988 in Germany. It is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest vessel in its class. A distinctive feature of the Greifswald ferry is its high seaworthiness and considerable dimensions, thanks to which the pitching is minimized even in stormy conditions. The ferry "Kaunas Seaways" has similar characteristics, which also left the German shipyards, but a year later.
Travel time between Illichivsk and Batumi by UkrFerry ferry is about 50 hours. All ships depart from Batumi in the evening or at night - at 16.00, 20.00, 21.00 and 00.47.
Tariffs and conditions
The fare from Batumi to Ilyichevsk on a ferry owned by UkrFerry depends on the class of the chosen cabin. The cheapest ticket in a 4-bed cabin with shower and toilet on the Greifswald will cost US $ 95. At Kaunas Seaways, the cheapest option would be to buy a ticket for $ 100 in a three-bed cabin. It is possible to sail with high comfort on the Kaunas Seaways for $ 270 in a two-room suite, and on the Greifswald suite it will cost $ 170 per person for double occupancy and $ 215 for a single occupancy.
The ticket price includes three meals a day at the restaurant on board the ferries. The price of transporting cars depends on their size and class. For a passenger car you will have to pay $ 300, for a minibus and a jeep - $ 350, for a motorcycle - $ 200.
