Tourism in Bosnia and Herzegovina is chosen by fans of not promoted destinations. In this Balkan country, there are still no crowds of people who are suffering to touch the sights, and therefore there are no queues, prices are democratic, and the hospitality of local residents is a worthy bonus to the natural beauty. Fans of especially picturesque landscapes are offered excursions to the waterfalls of Bosnia and Herzegovina, each of which is worthy of your whole day.

In the Kravice canyon

The crystal clear waters of the Trebizat River in the south of the republic allow you to examine every pebble at its bottom in the smallest detail and enjoy swimming to the fullest. And the Kravice waterfall, which unleashes its jets in the course of the river near the village of Studenak, seems like an unreal miracle in the middle of a rocky canyon.

The height of the rushing noisy stream is about 25 meters. The water falls wide enough, forming an openwork "veil" with myriads of splashes, sparkling in the sun like precious stones.

  • The facility is located 7 km south of the town of Lyubushki in the historical region of Herzegovina.
  • Buses from Sarajevo in this direction run several times a day. They stop on the highway, 3.5 km from the waterfall, before reaching Lyubushki. This distance will have to be covered on foot.
  • The second option, how to get to the most beautiful waterfall in Bosnia and Herzegovina, is to get to the town and hire a taxi there.
  • A visit to the waterfall, like parking, is absolutely free.

The best time to visit the Kravice canyon and waterfall is in spring, when the river is at its fullest.

A good plan for continuing the excursion is sightseeing in the town of Lyubushki. The oldest wine house in the republic has been operating here since 1882, where you can taste the best local wines. In the city museum of local lore, also the oldest in Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is a plate with a sample of writing dating back to the 10th century.

World famous

Small by world standards, the waterfall of Bosnia and Herzegovina, called Plivski, is unique and unrepeatable. It is the only one in the world located in the city, and in addition, it is one of the dozen of the most beautiful on the planet.

The town of Yayce, where the waters of the world celebrity rustle, is located in the central part of the country. The Pliva River flows into Vrbas at this point and forms a rapids with a height of about 20 meters. The stream falls in the form of many jets and looks very picturesque.

The original height of the waterfall was about 30 meters, but the war in Bosnia led to the flooding of the area around the confluence of the rivers and a rise in the level of the lower one.

It is easy to get from Sarajevo to Yayce by bus. It covers a distance of 160 km in just over 2 hours. In addition to the waterfall, the town can offer tourists to admire the old houses, wander around the medieval citadel, get lost in the ancient catacombs and take a boat trip on one of the most picturesque lakes.
