The island of Taiwan is washed by three seas - the East China, South China and the Philippines - and the Pacific Ocean and is located at latitudes that are quite suitable for organizing a beach holiday. In Taiwan, planes land not only with businessmen rushing to take part in numerous international exhibitions, but also with travelers who have decided to see with their own eyes the magnificent nature of the island, the monuments of its ancient culture and history, and in between exciting excursions - sunbathe and swim in warm waves …
Where to go to sunbathe?
- The city of Keelung, famous for its beaches, is located 25 km northeast of the capital of the island. This is one of the first ports in Taiwan and its distinctive feature is its tight urban development. The city is built on several hills and looks like a real Chinese anthill in the photo.
- Kenting in the extreme south of Taiwan has beautiful natural surroundings, and the beaches are covered with smooth white sand.
- The resort area on the East China Sea is Fulong Beach, an hour and a half from Taipei. The sand spit is usually quite deserted and you can enjoy the beach space in splendid isolation.
- Kaohsiung in the southwest will appeal to family travelers. There are many parks in the city, where hundreds of children's attractions are equipped. The Blue Lagoon Water Park is built in the Caribbean style and you can spend a whole day here in a very varied and exciting way. Kaohsiung's beaches are Shizu near Shushan Mountain and Qijin with black sand on a narrow island near the city port.
A beach holiday in Taiwan may not seem too cool to those who have swam in Thailand, sunbathed in the Caribbean, or enjoyed the service in Mexican Cancun. Everything is much simpler here, and for spoiled travelers, a vacation on the beaches of Taiwan may not seem very interesting. Cognitive excursions around the picturesque surroundings of the resorts will help to save the situation.
Kaohsiung - a city of contrasts
Even a simple listing of Kaohsiung's attractions will take several pages of printed text, so the cultural program for relaxing on local beaches can be quite varied:
- The Temple of the Three Phoenixes is the most magnificent in the city. The stone facade of the building is an example of the ancient Chinese art of carving.
- Fengshan City Wall was built in the 18th century in the form of an earthen rampart, and then built in stone.
- The 85-story skyscraper that houses the Grand Formosa Kaohsung offers scenic views of Kaohsiung and the seaport from the observation deck.
- The night market sells absolutely everything - from popular Chinese dishes to the latest in electronics. Asian prices are affordable, the quality is quite decent.
Young travelers will love a walk through the city zoo, where all inhabitants, except predators, are kept in open enclosures.

Useful information
The most comfortable way to travel around the island is by buses of the ALOHA company. They are equipped with comfortable recliners, TV and audio system. The second way to comfortably overcome the distance between the capital and the resorts is the high-speed train. Local airlines offer inexpensive tickets, but they tend to sell out quickly and should be booked well in advance.
