An independent trip to the Caucasus is a real adventure that only a true homebody can refuse. After all, the Caucasus is a completely unique place, since every traveler always opens from a new, still unknown side.

You can get to the Caucasus either by train or by plane. But it is more prudent to choose exactly the air flight - the journey takes a few hours. In addition, you can significantly save on the cost of tickets if you buy a ticket in advance via the Internet. By the way, Russian Railways also periodically holds promotions, during which prices are significantly reduced, and tickets can be purchased at a good discount.

If the plans are not ecological tourism with accommodation in tents, then the hotel or boarding house can also be booked in advance. But there is one thing! When choosing, it is highly desirable to be guided by the experience and feedback of knowledgeable people. In most cases, this is the only way to choose a decent place where your vacation will take place in accordance with your expectations.

What you need to know

Traveling on your own is very interesting. After all, the restriction on routes is removed, and a person is free to choose directions. But there are some subtleties that all "savages" who travel to the Caucasus on their own need to know.

  • Transport links in some republics are very poor. And in a remote village you can "get stuck" for several days.
  • At city stops, plates with numbers and bus routes are most often absent.
  • It is extremely problematic to buy a modern travel guide from a local store. That is why you need to buy cards in advance, while still at home. You should not rely on the help of the Internet, since communication in mountainous areas is often absent.
  • Mobile communications are also not available everywhere.
  • City maps are outdated with minimal edits. That is why it makes no sense to plot the exact route in advance. Most likely, you will have to improvise along the way.
  • The locals are friendly, but sometimes they cannot explain clearly where to go or go further.
  • In order not to get lost, rivers can be used as landmarks, i.e. move along their banks. But this is for real extreme lovers who prefer hiking.

And yet, traveling to the Caucasus on your own is an unforgettable trip. Complete freedom, magnificent landscapes, unity with nature.

In the Caucasus, you can take amazing photos, so you must take a camera. The sky here changes almost every minute, striking the imagination with a variety of colors. In remote (peripheral areas), excellent pictures of animals can be taken, since they rarely see people and may even pose just out of curiosity.
