In October 1993, a new heraldic symbol was approved by the Parliament of one of the federal republics. One glance at the coat of arms of the Altai Republic is enough to determine which region can have such a stylish emblem with a pronounced national character. The image was made in accordance with all the canons of heraldic science, took a worthy place in the Heraldic Register of the Russian Federation.

Description of the coat of arms of Altai

The first thing that the viewer sees is a circle of light blue color, along the edge of which there is a golden thin stripe. The color symbolizes the eternally blue sky of Altai, in a figurative sense - the azure sky means the absence of war, peacetime, tranquility.

All the elements of the heraldic composition are inscribed in a circle, first of all, the following are drawn to themselves:

  • a three-headed snow-white peak, which has become a symbol of the Altai Territory;
  • Kan-Keredes is a griffin made in national traditions;
  • a symbolic image of the most important rivers of Altai in the form of two ornaments;
  • a golden tripod, symbolizing the father's home, homeland;
  • a wavy line just below the tripod (waves of Altyn-Kel, the Altai pearl of Lake Teletskoye).

The coat of arms of the republic contains both popular heraldic colors and rare ones that are used extremely rarely. The first group includes the colors of precious metals - gold and silver (the second can be shown through white).

You can also note several shades of blue, which are associated with the air (sky) and water elements of Altai (rivers, lake). In addition, in the image of the griffin, the main color is silver, but there are also dark blue, gold and very rare red-lilac.

Element symbology

The coat of arms looks simply gorgeous in a color photo, in illustrations. But in every beautiful element there is a deep symbolic meaning. The mountain peak is Yuch-Semera, a more familiar name is Belukha. This element acts as a symbol of the native land, associated with power and beauty, which is emphasized with the help of white.

The same color is used for the image of the griffin, and the mythical animal itself is made in accordance with local traditions. He has the body of a lion and the wings of an eagle of a golden color, the animal personifies peace, happiness, patronizes the representatives of the local flora and fauna. In the regulation on the heraldic symbol of the republic, colors, elements, and their symbolic meaning are clearly spelled out.
