The Indian tribes living in this area used yucca as food and medicine (yucca root), and also extracted fibers from it for making clothes and ropes. It is noteworthy that the very first factory jeans were not sewn from hemp or cotton, but from yucca. So this tree was as important to the aliens as it was to the local population.
