Heraldic symbols of most countries and cities of the world are designed to reflect events from the past and include symbols associated with mythology, ethnography, history. But Seoul's coat of arms is symbolically associated with the city's future.
Simplicity and beauty of the composition
A color photo of the coat of arms shows a fairly simple composition, which consists of three elements, painted in three different colors. That is why the Seoul coat of arms is easy to remember at first glance. The main official symbol of the South Korean capital, rather, looks like the emblem of some major sports competition or the logo of a well-known industrial company. The following elements can be distinguished on the coat of arms:

In heraldry, green traditionally means prosperity, wealth, fertility. With regard to the coat of arms of Seoul, the choice of color means love for nature, respect for the country's natural resources, and protection of the environment.
The right stripe, which is longer and wavy, is painted in azure color. It also corresponds to a natural object located within the city boundaries - the Hangang River. On the other hand, the flow of water symbolizes the change of events, renewal, movement forward, towards perfection.
