In this country, there are no warm seas, ski resorts and other favorite tourist destinations. But it doesn't matter at all. After all, Afghanistan with its capital - Kabul - is a very distinctive place with a great history and a freedom-loving people.
The capital of Afghanistan is located on the Kabul River and is 1800 m above sea level. The city is connected with other cities of the country by highways. It is the largest industrial center in Afghanistan. Various fabrics, ammunition, sugar, furniture and more are produced here.
Population of the capital
Thanks to its history, Kabul has acquired a multi-ethnic identity. A large number of nationalities and nationalities live here. The bulk of foreigners began to arrive here in the 80s of the last century. According to statistics, the population of the city is about 3.5 million inhabitants. Different national groups coexist peacefully here: Tajiks; the Hazaras; Uzbeks; Pashtuns; Sikhs. They all speak different languages and dialects, but this does not prevent people from being in the same territory. Three quarters of the population are Sunnis and 25 percent are Shiites.
Trade in the city
The city is very developed in terms of trade. The Grand Bazaar is located in Kabul, which is located on Maiwand Avenue. One of the largest markets in the city is the Four Arches bazaar. Streets, lanes and shopping arcades are tightly intertwined here. It is here that you can feel the real life and spirit of Afghanistan.
You can walk around the markets until the morning, admire how the locals bargain, share news, quarrel and just communicate. For some reason, the main silent people in such places are considered to be the sellers of fabrics. In most cases, they just sit on the ground, curl their legs and silently watch what is happening.
But if you need to find something unusual, it is best to go to Mindai. This market specializes in selling almost everything from spices to sheepskin coats. Jewelry, food, jewelry, haberdashery - all this can be easily bought at an affordable price and good quality. Local residents have a saying - if you could not find something in the Mindai market, then such a thing does not exist in nature.
So, despite the desert climate and the difficulties of overcoming the route, there is something to see and wonder in the city.
