After sitting in a taxi, you must definitely buckle up (this also applies to those sitting in the back seats) - otherwise the driver may refuse to transport you.

Taxi cost in Hong Kong
Anyone who wants to know how much a taxi costs in Hong Kong will be able to satisfy their curiosity by reading the current tariffs:
- in a red taxi (which is the most expensive), passengers are asked to pay HK $ 20 for the first 2 km ride. As for the next 200 meters, they will be charged at a price of 1.5 HK $;
- in a blue taxi (it is the cheapest) for boarding + the first 200 m you will be asked to pay 15 Hong Kong dollars, and for the next 200 m - 1, 3 HK $;
- in green taxis, landing with overcoming 2 km of the route costs passengers 16, 5 HK $, after which every next 200 m are charged at the price of 1, 3 HK $;
- for waiting, you will pay 1, 3-1, 5 Hong Kong dollars.
It is worth noting that the transportation of wheelchairs and crutches is not subject to any surcharges, and you will be asked to pay 4-5 HK $ for the transportation of a stroller or animal (this is how much any large baggage costs).
As for the surcharges for travel on bridges, tunnels and toll roads, the passenger will have to pay them. For example, the Discovery Bay Tunnel Link is charged HK $ 50-250, for the Shing Mun Tunnels - HK $ 5, for the Lantau Link (bridge) - HK $ 30.
