According to the customs rules of the European Union, it is allowed to import into the country no more than a liter of strong alcohol and no more than two - wines and low-alcohol products. The law allows tourists to take up to 16 liters of beer with them, which looks like a strange joke: the Czech Republic is a recognized world leader in the production and consumption of hundreds of sorts of excellent foamy drink, and its beer is a welcome guest on the table in any home in every country. The price for different varieties ranges from 0.5 to 3 euros per bottle (in 2014 prices).

You can talk endlessly about Czech beer and not tell even a thousandth part of all important and interesting information. And yet the national drink of the Czech Republic, according to many, has a great strength and a completely different look and taste. The symbol of the country and the most desirable souvenir for gourmets is the Becherovka liqueur, which is jokingly called the fourteenth healing Karlovy Vary spring.
The recipe for the liqueur was invented by the pharmacist Becher at the beginning of the 19th century. He sold the tincture as a cure for stomach ailments until his son realized that the family had a gold mine and started production. The drink turned out to be so popular that not a single cultured person started his dinner without a glass of cold Becherovka.
By the way, the Czechs prepare several varieties of the popularly beloved liqueur:
- KV 14, which is a red aperitif with a strength of 40%.
- Lemond, which has a delicate citrus aroma and taste. Its alcohol content is 20%, and therefore it is recommended to ladies.
- Cordial with a touch of linden color and quite strong - 35%.
- Ice & Fire with a slightly odd combination of chili and menthol in taste, almost black in color.
- Original is a drink whose recipe has remained unchanged for over 200 years.

In addition to traditional beer and Becherovka liqueur, the Czech Republic is ready to offer guests many other worthy drinks. For a long time, the region of Moravia has been famous for its white wines, which are quite competitive on the European and world markets.
