Description of the attraction
Was moved to Shanghai in 1918. The buildings of the architectural ensemble are built in the classical Chinese style: yellow ocher, typical for places of worship in the lower Yangtze. The temple attracts with two bejeweled statues of Buddha, carved from white jade brought from Burma.

The architectural ensemble of the Temple completes the House of the Jade Buddha. This two-story structure also serves as a sutra repository that befits a famous temple.
The Jade Buddha Temple is located in the northwest of Shanghai. It has become the most famous Buddhist temple in this city. The temple gained such a high popularity thanks to the incredible statue of Buddha, located on the uppermost tier of the temple. This unique statue is crafted from a single piece of rare white jade.

Since 1983, the temple building has been used as the Shanghai Institute of Buddhism. That is why seminars, lectures and other classes on Buddhism are constantly held here.
