Petersburg is a northern city. But its residents want to enjoy the evergreen nature and warm up. Since 2010, they have been able to do this without flying away to distant lands. This became possible in the only one in St. Petersburg "Garden of living tropical butterflies" Mindo ", this fragrant corner in which the tropical world of the Amazon jungle is recreated. Here, in a tiny corner with an area of only 40 square meters, more than 40 species of live butterflies live and delight the eye of visitors. Their names are already curious: Caligo, Sylvia the Tiger, Blue Morpho … By the way, this last beauty with emerald wings in some Indian tribes is considered sacred, fulfilling any wishes of the one on whom she sits. In the Mindo Garden, butterflies are not afraid of people, as they get used to it from birth, so they constantly sit on small and adult visitors. Butterflies have a short age - from several hours to a couple of months, so the inhabitants of the garden are constantly changing.
In addition to butterflies, there are many exotic tropical flowers and plants, since each species of butterflies needs its own plants on which caterpillars feed, otherwise it would be impossible to carry out a full cycle of growing butterflies. For a comfortable life for butterflies, all the necessary climatic conditions of the tropics (high temperature and high humidity) have been created here, tropical fruits for them are not a wonder here. Here you can not only admire butterflies, but also take pictures or even buy them.
The idea to create this unique garden came to the head of Artem Yasny, who traveled across the Amazon many times. To implement it, Artyom and his assistants even had to study at a butterfly farm in a South American village called Mindo. And now the Garden in St. Petersburg, which they built, also bears this name. The authors of the project plan to expand the size of the garden, as well as increase the species of butterflies and build their own greenhouse.
