Description of the attraction

Papanak Zoo is a private zoo in Wendover, Canada. The zoo is located just a 25-minute drive from the city of Ottawa and is very popular with both residents of the Canadian capital and its guests.

The history of the Papanak Zoo began in the early 1980s, when a private center for breeding exotic animals and birds was founded here, which later, in fact, was transformed by its owners into a zoo. Papanak first opened its doors to visitors in 1994.

Today, Papanak Zoo is home to over 30 species of various animals and birds, including white Bengal tigers, snow leopards, cougars, Japanese macaques, zebras, lemurs, antelopes, etc. The owners of the zoo have worked hard to create comfortable conditions for all its inhabitants, as close as possible to the natural habitat, and have been very successful in this. Guests of the zoo will not only be able to watch animals and birds, but also feed them (in a specially designated place), and even pet some. The zoo staff will be happy to tell you about the life, habits and nutritional habits of their pets. If you plan to spend the whole day at the zoo, you can grab some provisions and, sitting right in the park on the grass, have a small picnic. You can also grab a bite to eat at the zoo's snack bar, or get a cute souvenir souvenir shop at the small souvenir shop.

Particularly popular at the Papanak Zoo are services such as “children's birthday celebrations”, the so-called “night safari” (an entertaining night tour of the zoo) and a weekend program (from 11.00 Saturday morning to 12.00 Sunday, including a night safari) …

Next to the zoo there is a summer camp "Junior Zoo Keeper Camp", where little nature lovers (8 years old and older) will have fun and benefit and will be able to learn more about the "backstage life" of the zoo and its inhabitants.

Interestingly, it was one of the inhabitants of the Papanak Zoo, an African lion named Simba, who became the prototype of the hero of the same name in the famous animated film The Lion King, produced by Walt Disney Studios.

Choose from 4 zoos around Ottawa. then here is the largest selection of exotic animals (in Saunders Zoo there are fewer of them, in Little Race - mostly reptiles, in Omega - only Canadian fauna).

The disadvantages of Papanak include the lack of paved paths - if it rained at least a day before, then moving between the enclosures turns into an amateur quest.
