Description of the attraction

The Stalin's Dacha Museum is one of the most popular tourist sites in Khosta and the whole of Sochi. It is located on the territory of the beautiful Khosta sanatorium "Green Grove", on the top of the mountain range between the Matsesta Valley and the Agursky Gorge.

The history of this dacha began at the beginning of the twentieth century, when the local lands were bought by the wealthy owner of gold mines, landowner M. M. Zenzinov. Here he built a luxurious estate with a two-story house and a magnificent park. The estate became known as Mikhailovsky. In the post-revolutionary period, it was used as a summer residence for the most senior political figures of the country - Stalin, Kalinin, Kirov, Trotsky and others.

In 1937, Stalin's dacha-residence was erected on the territory of the former estate. The author of this project was the young architect M. I. Merzhanov. The place was chosen very well, because from here all the splendor of the Caucasus Mountains and sea horizons were beautifully opened.

Joseph Stalin especially loved to relax at the Sochi dacha. Despite all the splendor of nature, the interior of the building was rather modest. In the study there was only everything you needed - chairs, a table, books, a soft sofa and armchairs. The fireplace room was used by the secretary general not only as a dining room, but also as a place for receiving guests. The leader's private pool was filled with seawater.

Today the former dacha is used as a museum, and some of it is used as a hotel. All tourists who visited it will be able to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of that time, examine the life and decoration of the rooms (desk, fireplace, chandeliers, carpets, billiard table, sofa), personal belongings of I. Stalin, his family photographs, as well as take pictures with wax the figure of the General Secretary himself, where he sits at a desk with a pipe in his hand.
