Description of the attraction
“Kenkävero” is a parish priest's estate-museum located in Mikkeli on the shore of the lake. The history of this place has more than 5 centuries - the first priest's house was built here in the 15th century. The priests' estates have long been the centers of the local parish life and were in close interaction with their environment. They had a great influence on the spiritual culture and improvement of the material condition of the inhabitants.
Over the long period of its existence, "Kenkarevo" had to endure both ups and downs. In 1988. after a strong decline, the city authorities, who received the estate, began to carry out extensive restoration work here.
The homestead in Mikkeli offers tourists interesting craft and art exhibitions all year round. In a local restaurant you can taste various delicacies, and the store will surprise you with its distinctive assortment. Here, on the banks of the Saima River in Mikkeli, you can get an unforgettable Christmas experience: a fabulous festive atmosphere, New Year's dinner, a theater for children in Russian, Santa Claus, a New Year's craft workshop and much more.
In summer, a huge number of different flowers and plants bloom in the garden at the estate - more than 500 species. The entrance to the garden is free.
