Description of the attraction
Among the places that are interesting to visit for every tourist who came to Kavarna, it is undoubtedly worth noting the Yailata reserve (reserve), located two kilometers from the village. Kamen-Bryag.
The reserve is located on picturesque 50-60-meter cliffs towering on the shores of the northern Black Sea coast. This is a great place for those who are tired of the noisy fun of resort cities and want to plunge into the atmosphere of tranquility in the midst of wild nature for a short while.
Yailata is a favorite place of many bird watchers, because here the migratory route of birds, the so-called "Via Pontica", begins. Here you can observe 180 species of various nesting birds.
Those who want to enjoy the beauty of the Bulgarian nature are also worth a visit to the reserve. It is especially beautiful in Yailat at the end of April, when peonies bloom around. And in summer, from the heights of the mountains, you can see flocks of dolphins in the sea. For this purpose, special observation towers were built on the rocks, from which a beautiful view of the entire area of the reserve opens.
Yailata is also an archaeological reserve. On its territory, scientists have discovered an ancient cave city, consisting of 101 dwellings. The age of the find dates back to the fifth millennium BC. In the Middle Ages, a monastery complex was located in these caves. This is evidenced by the ancient Bulgarian runes, signs, crosses, icons preserved on the walls. For lovers of archeology and history, a small early Byzantine fortress, located in the northern part of the reserve, is of interest. The ruins of the gate, four ancient towers, a cellar, tombs and sacrificial stones have been partially preserved.
