Description of the attraction
The Church of Sør-Front is a majestic octagonal stone church in the style of Louis XVI. It is located 70 km north of the city of Lillehammer. In common parlance, the name stuck behind it - "Gudbrandsal Temple".
The cathedral was built in 1787 by Sven Aspaas on the site of an old church in the Fron parish, and consecrated in 1792. The church can accommodate up to 750 people.
The pulpit at Sør-Fron is older than the church itself. It was created in 1703 by the sculptor Lars Borg Jensen. The altarpiece, painted by Frederick Petersen, shows the scene of the Crucifixion of Christ and the incidents described in the Gospel of John.
