Description of the attraction

The Hristo Tsokev Art Gallery is located in the town of Gabrovo in central Bulgaria. It was opened in 1974. The gallery is named in honor of the native of the city of Gabrovo - the Bulgarian Hristo Tsokev, who after graduating from the Moscow Art School became the first painter in the country to receive a professional art education.

Over the years of the Art Museum's existence, its funds have been significantly replenished. At the moment, the collection of the gallery is presented in four exhibition halls with a total area of 3 thousand square meters. In addition, the museum also has a storage area of 9 thousand square meters, which contains 3200 exhibits.

Samples of icon painting by representatives of the Tryavna art school are presented here as permanent exhibitions. Also, the gallery regularly hosts four major exhibitions: the Spring Exhibition of Artists; exhibition dedicated to the Day of the city of Gabrovo; Autumn Salon; annual Christmas exhibition. In addition, the museum presents temporary exhibitions dedicated to various fields of art.

The museum hosts various cultural events: book presentations, musical evenings, Days of Chamber Music, Days of Sacred Music in Gabrovo, celebrations on the occasion of the awarding of prizes and awards, etc.
