Description of the attraction
Basel Zoo, located right in the city center, is 12 hectares of magnificent parkland. Animals can be seen in it, rather, because they themselves want to show themselves, and not because the enclosures are arranged so that the animals are always in sight. This is done specifically in order to stimulate the imagination of visitors so that they stay there longer and get as many pleasant experiences as possible that will be remembered for years to come.
All the necessary information about the zoo can be found on the boards at the common entrance and entrances to each territory. For example, in the zoo there is a special area where you can observe young animals, and on the board at the entrance to the territory there is information about who can be seen on that day.
A visit to Basel Zoo is an unforgettable experience in any weather and season. In the spring, you can watch nature wake up, baby animals are born and grow up, which children can get to know closely in a special section of the zoo. On a hot summer day, under the shade of spreading trees, you can watch elephants for a long time and study the closest relatives of humans - primates, in winter - immerse yourself in the world of mysterious coral reefs or the Amazon River in a heated vivarium, enjoy an interactive exhibition in lion enclosures.
In the zoo, filming with photo and video cameras is allowed in all territories and premises, except for those where there is an announcement about the ban on filming. The enclosures are designed in such a way that you can take great close-up shots, while the fences will not spoil the frame.
