Description of the attraction
St. Margaret's Chapel is located exactly opposite the Church of the Savior, 400 meters from the center of the spa town of Bad Hull. This small Gothic building has been preserved in its original form since the end of the 14th century.
This sacred building was popularly known under the romantic name - the Chapel under the seven linden trees. The first church building appeared on this site in the 13th century, but later it was enlarged and rebuilt in the Gothic style. The solemn consecration of the new church took place in 1410. In 1600, a small additional room was added to the temple - the sacristy.
Previously, the chapel of St. Margaret played an important role in the life of the town of Bad Hull. For several centuries it served as the center of the city parish. Only in 1784, when a larger temple of the Savior was erected opposite it, consecrated in honor of Jesus Christ, the church lost its significance. However, it was not abandoned and several times underwent planned restoration work, the last time taking place at the end of the 20th century.
The chapel is a typical late Gothic religious building, painted white. It is distinguished by relatively small windows and a black sloping roof. The architectural ensemble is complemented by a graceful bell tower topped with a tiny spire.
As for the chapel premises itself, it is especially worth noting the choir, where the low and vaulted ceilings have been preserved - a typical detail of the late Gothic architectural style. The interior design of the church is made mainly in the style of early classicism. The main altar, tabernacle and various statues that adorn the interior of the temple were made in the eighties of the 18th century.
Now the chapel of St. Margaret in the city of Bad Hall is considered a historical monument and is under state protection.
