Description of the attraction
Holy Trinity Skete was founded in 1996. It was not by chance that he appeared in the village of Senno. In the 17th century, there was a large churchyard in Senno. In the 16th century, the church of Flora and Lavra was built here, which belonged to the Kolbetsky churchyard. It was by the name of this church that the churchyard was named - Sennovsky Florovsky. In the 17th century, a zemstvo hut (local administration) was moved here from Tikhvin, devastated by the Novgorodians and Swedes. The Church of Florus and Laurus survived several fires: in 1653 and 1771. And every time she was restored. The current church of Florus and Lavra was built in 1881-1883. After the consecration of the church, a temple was laid in the name of the Holy Trinity.
The Church of the Holy Trinity was built in 1888-1898. The temple was consecrated in 1898 on the day of the coronation of Nicholas II. John of Kronstadt was one of the donors for this temple. The Senno parish consisted of ten villages; under it there existed the Seraphim of Sarov sobriety society and a parish school.
In the 30s of the XX century, the temples in Senno were closed. The last abbot here was Vasily Kandelabrov, who is now glorified as a holy new martyr. In 1937 he was arrested along with other Tikhvin priests. After one interrogation, he was shot. They wanted to blow up the temples in order to extract bauxite here. A store was opened in the stone Trinity Church, and a club was set up in the Church of Flora and Lavra. They survived the war and have survived to this day.
In the early 1990s, the local administration transferred the churches to the Tikhvin Monastery. The abbot of the monastery, Father Alexander, ordered the organization of a women's skete in Senno. The skete was set up in the valley below the place of the house of the new martyr Vasily Kandelyabrov. The nun Tabitha headed the Holy Trinity Skete. The nun settled in the Trinity Church. She began her activity with the restoration of churches - Flora and Lavra and Holy Trinity. By 1998, the Trinity Church was repaired, in 2001-2002 - the Church of Flora and Lavra.
The entrance to the Church of the Most Holy Trinity is now decorated with a mosaic temple icon, inside the temple there are many shrines, including a genuine choros chandelier. It also houses the mitten of John of Kronstadt, slippers, which was consecrated on the relics of St. Spyridon of Trimifuntsky, other shrines and souvenirs brought from pilgrimages or donated to the temple. Divine services began in 1998 in the not yet fully renovated Trinity Church. Over time, the temple took its current form, some revered icons were donated to the temple, chandeliers were made anew according to pre-revolutionary drawings. A cross was erected near the entrance to the temple in memory of those buried here, behind the temple - a cross was erected on the grave of Father Siverian, who served here until 1933.
In 2005-2006, a new log church was erected - the Beheading of John the Baptist. The well under the Throne of the temple is lined with bricks that were brought from destroyed temples, from the Holy Land, from Valaam from the Forerunner skete. In 2005, divine services were resumed in the wooden church of Flora and Laurus after the installation of the dome with a cross and redecoration.
In the temples of the skete, there are pieces of relics - the martyrs Barbara and Elizabeth, the holy great martyrs Theodosius of Chernigov and George, the Monks Lawrence of Chernigov, Aristokle of Athos and Macarius of Unzhensky, Saint Philip of Irap.
Now in the Holy Trinity Skete there are three churches, a refectory, a bathhouse, a nursing building, a house-hotel, an apiary, and a vegetable garden. Opposite the skete in the village, there is a chapel of confessors and new martyrs of Russia, and at the entrance from Boksitogorsk they set up a roadside George the Victorious.
In connection with the opening of the Tikhvin Vvedensky Women's Monastery, the Holy Trinity Skete in the village of Senno was attributed to him. Now services in the churches of the skete are held on Saturdays and patronal holidays.
There are two springs near the skete: one is named in honor of Nicholas the Wonderworker, the other in honor of Sergius of Radonezh. The house of Vasily Kandelyabrov used to be located directly above them. His icon is in the Trinity Church. In the skete there is evidence of the help of the new martyr to the suffering. A memorial cross was erected on the site of his house. On the way to the springs, apple trees, gooseberries, currants from the former garden of the priest have been preserved to this day. The water from the spring has healing properties and helps to heal the suffering and sick.
