Description of the attraction
Oslo City Museum, located in the Vigeland Sculpture Park, was built in 1905. under the strict guidance of the Norwegian architect Fritz Holland. The museum occupies the premises of an 18th century mansion, in which historical interiors are partially preserved.
The museum complex includes the Oslo City Museum, the Theater Museum and the Oslo Intercultural Museum. The exhibition reproduces the image of the thousand-year history of the city, presents an impressive collection of paintings and other works of art.
The museum houses the largest library in the country, which has collected documentary historical materials on the development of the city of Oslo, in particular the municipality of Aker.
Moreover, the museum features a fifteen-minute documentary about the history of Oslo in English. For the convenience of tourists, the museum has a cafe “Mathia”, where you can buy mineral water, juices, ice cream, sandwiches, cakes, etc.
