Description of the attraction

At the corner of Gorky and Kiselyov streets, there is a mansion decorated with mythical creatures and stucco landscapes. Mermaids, spiders, snakes, jellyfish, fabulous fish and a sea monster guarding the balcony - all this is simply mesmerizing, taking you into the world of ancient Greek mythology. The tale, created in the early 1870s by an unknown architect, belonged to the merchant of the first guild Fyodor Alekseevich Satov. The building was used as a shop and comfortable hotel rooms. From 1912 to 1915, the owner of the trading house Otto Petrovich Schmidt was located in the apartment on the second floor. The mansion was located in the most advantageous area for those times; in close proximity to the Theater Square and the Upper Market, providing the owner of the house with constant profit.

FASatov was not only an enterprising person, but also a virtuous one. At his own expense, he founded a literacy school in the village of Raslovka, Saratov district, and was a teacher of the parish church.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the mansion housed: the Davydov Brothers trading house, KP Kaloti's office and warehouse and the II Lisunov and K trading house. Satov's household included a large courtyard, which was also leased to various offices.

After 1917, the upper floor of the building was occupied by residents of the communal rooms, and on the ground floor - a shop. Since 1960, the "Men's Clothing" store has been located from the front entrance of the mansion, and from the early 1970s to the present day, the "Light" store has been operating, illuminating mermaids and mystical heroes, giving the building an even more mysterious look.
