For a long time, the history of Burgas was not remarkable and for many centuries it was only a fishing village on the seashore. The construction of the port gave impetus to the development of the city, and today Burgas is one of the Black Sea beach resorts in Bulgaria. If you are not looking for a wide variety of noisy entertainment, but prefer only to sunbathe on the Black Sea coast at an inexpensive rate, renting a room from hospitable hosts, this place will suit you perfectly. The nearest international airport is located a few kilometers from the city center and the question of how to get to Burgas will be answered most willingly by numerous air carriers operating both regular and charter flights to the Bulgarian coast.

Sarafovo International Airport is located in the eponymous suburb of Burgas, 10 kilometers northeast of the center. It is considered the second largest airport in the country after the capital. Direct flights connect Moscow with the resort. From some Russian cities, you can also get to Burgas directly, but only in the summer season, or buy tickets with transfers at Moscow airports at any time of the year:
- S7 Airlines daily sends its aircraft to Sarafovo airport from Domodedovo. Ticket prices start at 220 euros in the high season, and the journey takes 3.5 hours.
- Airplanes of the carrier NordStar Airlines also fly from the Russian capital to Burgas. The price of the issue is 240 euros, and the starting point is Moscow Domodedovo Airport.
- The Moscow - Burgas ticket from Yamal Airlines will cost significantly more - from 300 euros.
- From St. Petersburg to the beaches of the Bulgarian resort, you will be driven by the boards of the same airline S7. True, you will have to dock in Moscow, spend from 320 euros on the road and spend about five hours in the sky.
- From other cities in Russia, you will also have to fly to Bulgaria on transfer flights, if we are talking about regular flights. Permanent S7 offers flights from the provinces with a transfer in Moscow. A ticket for Novosibirsk residents will cost 430 euros, for residents of Sverdlovsk - 350, and for residents of Irkutsk - no less than 640 euros.
The easiest way to get from the airport to Burgas is by taxi or city bus N15. In the first case, you will pay about 10 euros for the journey, and in the second - only 0.5 euros. Public transport starts running from the airport to the city at 6 am and ends at 11 pm. The bus service interval is 30 minutes.
How to get to Burgas by bus
If you are not too fond of air traffic, but, simply put, are afraid to fly, do not rush to give up on a beach vacation in Bulgaria. You can reach its most popular resorts and Burgas, including by land transport.
The buses of the "Bulgarian Express" company leave every Saturday from the Kazansky railway station of the Russian capital from Ryazansky lane at 10 am and arrive at the Burgas bus station after 40 hours. The ticket price is 70 euros.
With transfers in several European cities, you can get to Burgas from Moscow by buses of the Eurolines and Ecolines companies. Do not be afraid of a long move! Bus companies use cars that offer special comfort and services on the way:
- All buses serving European routes are equipped with a central air conditioning system, thanks to which it is equally comfortable to be in the cabin at any time of the year.
- Multimedia systems in the bulk of buses will help pass the time watching your favorite movies.
- Even large-sized bugs fit comfortably in the cargo compartment of the bus.
- The passenger seats are equipped with individual electrical outlets, which are essential for recharging phones on a long journey.
- Each bus has a dry closet and hot drinks machine.
The car is not a luxury
A little more than 2,300 kilometers separates the capital of Russia and Burgas, and many motorists prefer to get to the resort on their own wheels. In the last couple of years, the path is most often laid through the territories of Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
A liter of fuel in the countries you have to pass costs from 0, 6 euros to 1.3 euros. Refueling at dispensers located near large shopping centers will be the cheapest.
Do not forget about the need to follow the traffic rules on the roads of Europe. Violations are subject to serious fines. Remember that in the countries of the Old World it is strictly forbidden to use or even transport radar detectors in the cabin with switched off radar detectors.
In some countries, tolls are provided for certain sections of highways. Its value is calculated based on the vehicle category and the number of kilometers traveled. On your route, such countries will be Belarus and Poland. The rest of the states, the borders of which you have to cross, require you to acquire a special permit to travel on toll highways. It is called a vignette and is sold at border gas stations and checkpoints. The vignette must be purchased immediately after entering the country. The cost of a permit for a car for 10 days of stay is about 10 euros. Each country needs its own permit and 10 days is the minimum period for which it is issued.
