Are you facing a choice where to go in Tunisia in September? Those who are going on vacation this month need to know only that in September the summer heat recedes, and the heavenly body becomes not so hostile to white-skinned vacationers.
Where can you go on vacation in Tunisia in September?
In the first ten days of September, the average daily readings are at around + 30-31˚C (on the island of Djerba, the thermometer may rise slightly higher), and from the 15th of September, the environment “cools down” by several degrees. At the end of the month, the north winds begin to blow, so after sunset you cannot do without jeans and long-sleeved clothes, despite the fact that in the evenings, when many go for a walk under the moon and admire the crimson sunset, the air temperature is about + 21-24˚C (in the capital in the evenings about + 18-20 degrees).
Good news for beach-goers - the water in the Djerba area in September warms up to + 26-27˚C, and in the area of Sousse, Mahdia and Monastir - up to + 23-24˚C. As for the water temperature off the coast of Hammamet, Tunisia and Bizerte, in early autumn it is at around + 22˚C (it is advisable to come to the beaches of these resorts no earlier than 10 am).
It is best for divers to head to the diving sites of Port el Kantaoui or Tabarka: underwater they will meet octopuses, groupers, electric rays and other representatives of the marine fauna.
Resting in September Tunisia, do not apply to visit the celebration of the Festival of the Sea and Sirens (Kerkenna Islands), Coral Festivals and "Neptune's Trident" (Tabarka).
Sousse
September Sousse invites its guests to visit the Archaeological Museum (exhibits in the form of Roman household items, marble statues and ancient mosaics on mythological subjects are subject to inspection, among which the mosaics "Apollo and the Muses", "Bathing of Venus" and "Head of Medusa" are of interest) and the museum Dar Essid (in the reconstructed house of an Arab family you will be able to look at books, bottles of perfume, lamps, guns, wardrobe items and other interesting things; guests will be allowed to wander around the apartments of the house - they will be able to look into the nursery, the kitchen, the wives' bedrooms, the bathroom), visit the Ribat fortress (tourists will be able to see the preserved 12-15-meter fortress walls, about 4 m thick, as well as climb a spiral staircase with 70 steps to the watchtower to admire the panorama of Sousse and the surrounding area), spend time on the beaches (to the services of vacationers - snack bars and beach restaurants, and in hotels it will be possible to find sun loungers with umbrellas and water sports stations - their employees offer ride on the water surface on "bagels" or "bananas").
Tabarka
The average daily air temperature in Tabarka is + 28-29˚C, and the water warms up to + 25˚C. These temperature values are well suited for playing golf (for tourists there is an 18-hole course on an area of 117 hectares), diving (those who have shown interest in a 300-kilometer reef, when immersed in the water, will be able to meet red mullets, shrimps, squid, tuna, groupers, sea breams and other underwater inhabitants; those who wish will be taken to the wreck, where they will be able to study a merchant ship that sank in the 50s of the 20th century), inspection of Les Aiguilles (are needle-shaped rocks, the height of which is 20-25 m) and the Genoese fort (building of the 16th century), and climbing the table mountain Yugurt (rising to a height of more than 1200 m, they will be able to admire the Tunisian steppes and neighboring Algerian mountains; tourists are recommended to watch the sunrise at the top of Yugurt, where, moreover, it is not forbidden to stay with tents, but in this case, it is worth taking care of food and water supplies, since there is nowhere to replenish them at the top).
Bizerte
For a beach pastime in Bizerte, the following beaches are suitable:
- El Remel (due to its picturesque nature, it attracts many tourists, both among visitors and the local population);
- La Grotte (vacationers here will be sheltered from the sea winds, since the beach of La Grotte is protected by the white cliffs of the Cap Blanc).
As for the excursion program, tourists will be offered to see the Great Mosque (the building of the 17th century has an octagonal minaret), the Spanish fort (it was built in the middle of the 16th century; the whole city is clearly visible from its observation deck) and the Alexander Nevsky temple (the temple has 5 blue domes; inside you will be able to see the Andreevsky banner, a marble plaque with the names of ships that came from the Crimea to Bizerte reflected on it, as well as modern and ship icons dating from the early 20th century), visit the house-museum of Anastasia Shirinskaya (here the interior of a noble house of the pre-revolutionary period has been recreated in Russia; guests will see the clothes of that time, get acquainted with photographs and materials telling about the life of sailors in Bizerte), as well as go to the Ishkel National Park (there is a lake of the same name and an ornithological reserve where you can meet flamingos, swans and rare birds, type of marble teal and sultanka).
