Batumi is considered a relatively small resort, stretching only twenty kilometers along the Black Sea coast. The most interesting districts (in terms of tourism) are located, naturally, in the center, the main place is occupied by Old Batumi. In this historic center, you can find beautiful buildings dating back to the 19th century, although modern buildings may also be present in their immediate vicinity.
The heart of the city is called Batumi Boulevard, a place of romantic walks for local residents and guests. From the entertainment that awaits on the boulevard - feeding tame pelicans living in the local lake, admiring handsome peacocks, seascapes and singing fountains. The boulevard is something that you can visit in Batumi on your own and in the company with your loved one.
On the one hand, the boulevard, in a certain sense, is a historical landmark, its decoration is unique plants, trees and shrubs, many of which are about a hundred years old. On the other hand, it is an entertainment center with many restaurants, cozy coffee houses, shops, souvenir shops and its own Ferris wheel.

The French fountain in Batumi is indeed recognized as one of the most beautiful in Europe. Locals call it the eighth wonder of the world, and the first thing they do is bring all their guests to it. A magical "dance of water" appears before amazed spectators. Numerous streams of the fountain soar up to different heights, as if moving in an amazing dance. They are highlighted, this very beautiful, romantic sight gathers thousands of fans every day.
There is another very specific fountain in Batumi, it was named Chacha Tower. Its secret is that within 15 minutes a stream of not water, but the famous chacha, a strong Georgian vodka made from grapes, soars to a height of 25 meters. Everyone can have their own tasting of this magical drink.
Legends and tales of ancient Batumi
Lovers of ancient architecture, traveling around Batumi and its environs, will not be disappointed. A trip to local religious buildings deserves special attention; Orthodox, Catholic, and Armenian churches have been preserved in the city. The most famous of them are the church consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas and the Armenian church, which has a difficult name for a Russian-speaking tourist - Surb Prkch.
An architectural monument is the Orta Jame mosque, erected in the 19th century, it is the only (and therefore the oldest) religious building of representatives of the Muslim religion.
Of the ancient fortresses that existed on the territory of Georgia, the closest to Batumi is the Gonio fortress, or rather, what is left of it. Once the fortification was erected by the architects of the Roman Empire, then it served the defensive purposes of Byzantium. Today, you can see 18 towers and almost a kilometer of fortress walls. According to legend, there is another attraction here - the resting place of the Apostle Matthew.
Museum walks
Perhaps summer is not the best time to visit museums, on the other hand, you can find a lot of interesting things in these treasures of Georgian history and culture. For example, the Adjara Art Museum will delight with impressive collections of lovers of European and Russian painting of the 19th - 20th centuries, as well as demonstrate the works of the great Pirosmani.
The Nobel Museum will tell about the activities of the great Swedish inventor and industrialist Alfred Nobel (and his brothers). During the excursion, a museum employee acquaints visitors with another great business representative who invested in the development of industry in Batumi - Rothschild.
