Further, the path lies in the village of Rupite, located in the mouth of the ancient volcano Kozhukh. The clairvoyant Vanga lived here. She is also buried here, near the Chapel of St. Paraskeva, built with her own money.
Not far from Rupite there is one of the smallest cities in the world - Melnik. It got its name from the amazing sandy pyramids surrounding the city - chalk, bizarre shapes that change over time. Their height reaches one hundred meters. These formations are incredibly picturesque. The city itself is also unrealistically beautiful, its houses are distinguished by a special style: snow-white, under tiled roofs, on a high plinth with wooden bay windows. For centuries Melnik belonged to the Romans, Greeks, Turks, Byzantines, Bulgarians, Serbs. But the Medi, a Thracian tribe, to which the famous Spartacus belonged, lived earlier than anyone else.
The world fame was brought to the city by its wines. Melnik's red wine is famous throughout the Mediterranean. It is very thick and tart, its bouquet is unique, and its healing properties are legendary. The level of tannins in it is high.
Acquaintance with Melnik leaves very pleasant memories, it seems that this city is from some other world, fabulously happy.
