There are three drainage basins in the country. Many of Bolivia's rivers - almost 66% - belong to the Amazon basin. The second pool - 22% - is the southern basin of the Rio de la Plata. And the third basin - the central part of the country - is closed, occupying about 13%.

Akri river

The river bed passes through the lands of two countries - Brazil (northwestern part) and Bolivia (northern territories). The total length of the current is six hundred and fifty kilometers with a total catchment area of thirty thousand squares.

The source of Acri is located in the Andes (Peru). The river bed partially acts as a natural border, dividing the lands of Brazil and Bolivia. Akri is the right tributary of the Purus River.

For the most part - four hundred and eighty kilometers of the total - the river is navigable. During the rainy season, ships can climb even higher (this period lasts from January to May).

Beni River

The river flows through Bolivia. The data on the length of the current are different. The numbers range from one thousand one hundred seventy-eight to one thousand six hundred and nineteen kilometers. At the same time, Beni is a fairly deep river: the average is nine kilometers. But the record maximum is twenty-one meters. The width indicators are no less impressive. Average - four hundred meters, but the maximum is almost one thousand one hundred kilometers.

The river is distinguished by complex hydrography, and therefore very often changes the direction of the flow. In addition, there are many rapids on Beni.

Guaporé river

The river carries its waters through the lands of two countries - Brazil (western part of the country) and Bolivia. The total length of the channel is one hundred fifty three kilometers. And for the most part, they play the role of a natural border, dividing the territories of these countries. The river ends its path, connecting with the waters of Mamore.

Comapilla river

Comapilla flows through the lands of Bolivia and Chile. The length of the river is unknown to scientists, but the sources are located in the province of Parinacotta (Chile). Then it descends lower and leaves in a northerly direction, forming the border between the states, and goes to the lands of Bolivia (department of Oruro). The end of the Comapilla path is the waters of the Mauri River. This is her right tributary.

Desaguadero river

Desaguadero is the only river whose source is the waters of Lake Titicaca (height relative to the sea - three thousand eight hundred and eleven meters). The channel runs through the lands of Peru and Bolivia. The total length of the channel is four hundred thirty six kilometers.

Desaguadero emerges from the southern part of the lake and heads towards the neighboring Lake Poopo. The upper course of the river is navigable. In addition, the water in this part of Desaguadero is fresh. But then its waters pass through saline soils, and this makes the river not only shallow, but also salty.

About fourteen kilometers of river flow is the natural border separating Bolivia and Peru.
