The idea of creating a city zoo appeared in 1935, and after just a couple of years a menagerie appeared on Konikova Street. After the end of the Second World War, he moved to a new place, where the laying of a botanical garden began in parallel. The grand opening of the Brno Zoo took place in 1953, and since then tens of thousands of animal lovers from all over the world visit it every year.

The name of the zoo in Brno is well known not only to regular visitors, but also to biologists. Various scientific research work is carried out here to preserve rare species of animals. The park is home to about 1,450 guests representing at least 340 species.

Pride and achievement

The organizers of the Brno zoo are proud of their collection of reptiles and birds, and children especially love to visit the mino-zoo, where they have the opportunity to personally interact with tame rabbits, goats and pigs.

Many newborn animals are born in the park every year, including such rare ones as the emerald dove and the arctic wolf.

How to get there?

The address of the zoo is U Zoologické zahrady 46, 635 00 Brno, Czech Republic. The easiest way to get here is by buses 50 and 52, trams 1, 3 and 11 and trolleybus line 30. The stop is called Zoologicka Zahrada.

For visitors who prefer personal transport, parking is open at the entrance.

Useful information

Opening hours of the zoo in Brno:

  • From November to February inclusive, the park is open from 09.00 to 16.00.
  • In March and October - from 09.00 to 17.00.
  • From April 1 to the end of September, the zoo can be accessed from 09.00 to 18.00.

Ticket sales end one hour before closing time.

The animal feeding schedule is posted on the zoo's website. The most popular tigers and fur seals are invited to watch the feeding at 10.30 and 11.00 on Saturday and Sunday.

  • Adult - 100 CZK.
  • Ticket for students, pensioners, children from 3 to 15 years old and disabled people - 70 CZK.
  • Family pass for 2 adults and 2-3 children from 3 to 15 years old - 270 CZK.
  • Photos can be taken by paying 10CZK for one camera.
  • Video shooting is allowed with the purchase of a special pass for 20 CZK.
  • Dogs are allowed. Pet ticket price - 30CZK.
  • Children under three years old can enter the park for free.

At the zoo, you can buy a variety of souvenirs with your own symbols, forge a commemorative coin, dine in a cafe, buy drinks and use the services of a professional photographer.

For toddlers, the park offers pony rides, trampoline jumping and playgrounds. For the youngest visitors, parents can rent strollers.

Guests on rollerblades, skateboards and bicycles are not allowed in the park. They can be left in a storage room or in a dedicated parking lot.
