Chicago districts are clearly visible on the map - they are diverse, have their own characteristics, and today there are more than a hundred of them. Chicago districts include Albany Park, Beverly, Barrington, Chatham, Budlong Woods, Forest Glen, Goose Island, Hyde Park, Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Little Village and others.
Description and attractions of the main areas
- Downtown Chicago: famous for The Loop - sculptures by Picasso, Chagall, Calder, Dubuffet are installed on its streets; it is famous for the Chicago Theater and Cadillac Palace Theater, the Willis Tower skyscrapers (it is recommended to climb the Skydeck with a glass floor) and the Aon Center (has 83 floors), the Chicago Chamber of Commerce. From the north, Loop is adjoined by another area - Near North Side: its Magnificent Mile street will delight travelers with luxurious restaurants and shops. The area also has the Water Tower and the John Hancock Center skyscraper. It is worth noting that downtown Chicago is a recreational area with Lake Michigan and the Chicago River, along which boat excursions and cruises are arranged; Grant Park (there are jazz, blues, Venice Night festival; has areas for outdoor activities and green squares) and Millennium Park (guests are delighted with free concerts, excursions, exhibitions; they will be able to take a photo against the background of the Crown Fountain and flowering plants Sada Lurie, walk along the walking paths, look at the Harris Theater, go for a free ice skating rink in winter, and sit in an open-air restaurant in summer).
- Northern districts: Famous for River North (has art galleries and popular clubs concentrated on Rush Street), Gold Coast (expensive section of the city with boutiques and historic mansions, where you can see Potter Palmer Castle), Lincoln Park (in summer it is recommended to attend at concerts, carnival parades, performances in the theater on the water, the park has golf courses, the beach "North Avenue", an area for fishing enthusiasts, the Museum of Nature, a zoo inhabited by bears, cheetahs, lions, monkeys).
- Southern Areas: Consists of Bronzeville (gothic, Romanesque and Victorian houses worth admiring), Bridgeport (visit Maria's Bar for rare beers and a variety of cocktails; and watch the Chicago WhiteSox baseball club play), Hyde Park (of interest is the Museum of Industry and Science, the University of Chicago and parklands).
Where to stay for tourists
In Chicago, tourists are advised to stay in hotels in the Loop, Near North, Lakeview areas. It is worth noting that the areas in the center of Chicago are prestigious and expensive: here guests will find gourmet restaurants, boutiques with branded collections, hotels, from the windows of which they will be able to admire the urban landscape. As for the southern regions, they are not the best places for tourists because of the immigrants from Mexico and Africa living there.
