On the map of the Austrian capital, the districts are presented in the form of 23 subdivisions - each of these districts has a serial number and its own administrative building (with the exception of 13 and 14 districts - they “divide” one building).

Vienna's districts include Wieden, Inner City, Landstrasse, Leopoldstadt, Mariahilf, Margareten, Neubau, Alsergrund, Favoriten, Josefstadt, Simmering, Hitzing, Meidling, Hernals, Penzing, Rudolfsheimring-Fünflinghaus, Donaustadt.

Description and attractions of the main areas

  • Inner City: of interest for tourists is the Hofburg Palace located here (the imperial apartments, the chapel of the imperial palace, treasury with crowns, orders, family treasures of the royal family and jewelry, the national library and other objects are available for inspection), St. Stephen's Cathedral (keeps the Pech icon; if you wish, you can go down to the catacombs, accompanied by a guide), the Peterskirche church, the Palace of Justice, the Burgtheater, the Vienna Opera (famous for the annually held ball), the Albertina Gallery (is a repository of drawings and sketches, works of famous photographers, samples of printed graphics).
  • Leopoldstadt: this green area is good for families and children - here you can ride a rented bike, have picnics, take morning jogging, spend time in Prater Park Black Mamba”,“Extasy”,“Prater Turm”; in addition, there is a go-kart, a laugh room, mini-golf, a puppet theater, a“river”that can be used for canoeing and other entertainment).
  • Hitzing: it is famous for the Leinzer Tiergarten nature reserve and the Schönbrunn complex, the attractions of which are the palace (45 rooms out of 1441 are open for tourists), the Glorietta pavilion (it is worth going up to the observation terrace, from where you can take wonderful photos), the zoo (a visit to it will allow guests to see more 600 species of animals, and here you can also watch underwater inhabitants through the aquarium tunnel), Labyrinth (here you can find 12 signs of the Zodiac, and after getting out of the labyrinth, climb the platform to see how other guests are looking for a way out).

Where to stay for tourists

Do you want to be close to all the famous landmarks? For temporary accommodation, the Inner City is suitable for you, but there are the most expensive hotels in the Austrian capital. The same applies to the old Landstrasse district.

Many inexpensive hotels can be found in the Margareten area - in addition to this advantage, travelers will also like to live here due to the proximity to the center and the presence of cozy cafes and restaurants. And if tourists want to rent apartments at low prices, then they should take a closer look at the sleeping area of Vienna - Favoriten.

A very convenient area for tourists is Wieden - staying here, tourists will be close to the center, the Naschmarkt market and the Mariahilfestrasse shopping street.
