Initially, it was customary to divide Ireland into five provinces: Leinster, Munster, Connacht, Ulster, Meath. Subsequently, the smallest province, Meath, was incorporated into Leinster as a county. During the Golden Age, the provinces were loosely connected federation kingdoms, whose boundaries were not clearly defined. Nowadays, the provinces of Ireland do not have a formal legal status, so they can be perceived as commonwealth of the respective counties.
Leinster
Leinster is a province located in the eastern part of Ireland. The largest city is Dublin, known for its rich history and ancient architecture. Dublin attracts tourists with numerous attractions. The most famous site is Dublin Castle, which housed the British administration from the 12th century until the 1920s.
From Dublin you can go on interesting excursions:
- Glendalough is a glacial valley located in County Wicklow. A notable place is the monastery, which was founded in the 6th century.

Munster
Munster is a province located in the southern part of Ireland. If you are planning to visit Munster, Cork, which is the second largest in the country, deserves attention.
