The metro, which opened in January 1983 in the Venezuelan capital, has become a welcome opportunity to relieve traffic in the city. The densely populated metropolis suffered from traffic jams and congestion. Four metro lines stretch more than 52 kilometers, and Caracas metro passengers can use 48 stations to enter, exit and change routes. The daily passenger traffic in the Caracas metro is at least two million people.
Metro Caracas is a complex transport network, part of which is laid underground. Each branch has its own marking color on the diagrams. The very first line, commissioned in 1983, is marked in orange. Its length is more than 20 kilometers, it connects the western and eastern districts of the city with its center, and serves the "orange" line 33 of the train.
Five years later, a "green" line number 2 was opened in the Caracas metro, connecting the center and the southwest. The length of the branch is about 18 kilometers, from it you can go to line 1. The "green" route is serviced by 14 trains.
The central districts of the city with the southern outskirts were connected by route number 3, marked in blue on the schemes. The length of the rails of the "blue" line is a little more than 10 kilometers, and it was put into operation in 1994.
The "red" line runs parallel to line 1 in the central part of the city and relieves it of too many passengers during rush hours. Then Route 4 goes southwest.
Terrestrial suburban metro lines of Caracas stretch for 9.5 kilometers and connect the "green" line with the satellite city of Los Tekes. Another overland line will be laid to the city of Guarenas.

The start of the Caracas metro is 5.30 am. The last passengers of the station are accepted at 23.00. Some stations close at 21.00. The interval of movement of trains on the lines does not exceed one and a half minutes. On weekends and holidays, it takes a little longer to wait for the train - up to six minutes.
