Description of the attraction
The Chianciano Art Museum is located in the heart of the resort town of Chianciano Terme in Tuscany. Here is a huge collection of works of ancient and modern art, the value of which is recognized throughout the world. The Chianciano Biennale and the International Festival of Digital Art and Photography are also regularly held here.
The museum's collections are divided into five sections. The first one presents contemporary art of various schools - the abstract works of Tom Nasha and Afro, the realism of Francis Turner and Jin Chen Liu, the outsider art of Albert Luden, paintings by Brian Wilshire, etc. including statues, bowls, dishes, stone sculptures. The oldest exhibit - an antique amphora - is about 5 thousand years old! This section also features a collection of 4th century artifacts from Afghanistan, which reflects Greek influence on Afghan art. In the third section, you can see a collection of drawings from the 15th century to the present day - works by Paolo Cagliari, Rennato Guttuso, Giovanni Domenico Tiepolo, Toulouse-Lautrec, Edvard Munch, etc. A separate room of the museum is dedicated to engravings and engravings - they were collected around the world, including in museums such as the Metropolitan in New York and the Cincinnati Museum of Art. Among the authors of the works are Albrecht Durer, Goya, Rembrandt, Piranesi. Finally, the historical section contains works by Napoleon III and numerous members of European royalty.
