Description of the attraction

The Marble Cave is located not far from Simferopol, on the lower plateau of Chatyr-Dag. This cave is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the world. In 1992 she was admitted to the International Association of Equipped Caves, and in 2007 she became the winner in the "7 Natural Wonders of Ukraine" campaign.

The cave was discovered in 1987 and immediately taken under protection. Therefore, to this day, stalagmites and stalactites, the rarest types of crystals have been preserved almost in their original form. The name of the cave was given by the marble-like limestones of the Chatyr-Dag mountain, which belong to the Upper Jurassic period.

The total length of the galleries open to visitors is one and a half kilometers. The entrance to the cave consists of three parts - the Main Gallery, the Lower Gallery and the side "Tiger Pass". After passing a ten-meter artificial tunnel, visitors find themselves in the "Gallery of Fairy Tales", where bizarre stalagmites resemble the outlines of the heroes of fairy tales. So here you can see "Santa Claus", "The Frog Princess", "Elephant", "Mammoth", the head of the "Master of the Cave".

The Tiger Run Hall got its name from the remains of a saber-toothed tiger found here. Only later, after a series of examinations, it was established that the remains belonged to a cave lion, but the name was already included in the catalogs and did not change. This is followed by the "Perestroika Hall", which is one of the largest equipped halls not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe. Its area is 4 thousand sq. M.

The lower gallery of the cave is a natural mineralogical museum. Only the most daring dare to visit it, because here you need to crawl along narrow passages using lanterns.
