Description of the attraction
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin in the village of Vorokhta is one of the most ancient churches in the Hutsul region. The village in which the church is located is located in the Ivano-Frankivsk region. It is not known exactly when the monastery was built, but historians are inclined to believe that the temple was built in 1654-1657. In the field of architecture, the church has become the most interesting attraction in the Carpathians.
Initially, the building of the church was located near the village of Vorokhty in the village of Yablunitsa, where the building stood for several decades. The shrine was moved to its present place in 1780.
In 1979. the wooden church in Vorokhta was restored by masters B. Kindzelsky, I. Mogitich and G. Kruk. At the present time, the building of the monastery cannot be called huge, but nevertheless it amazes with its uniqueness. The church was erected without a single carnation. Several fragments with paintings, which were made in the 19th century, have survived in the temple. Inside the church, there is a mesmerizing and cozy atmosphere. In the courtyard next to the shrine, there is a two-tiered wooden bell tower, in the middle of which there is a church museum today.
The wooden church of the Nativity of the Virgin stands out among others for its harmonious forms and architectural proportions. The side structures of the church have a shallow depth, which is its peculiarity. The log cabins of the western and eastern sides of the building also stand out a little. This is what makes the temple in Vorokhta more compact in comparison with other such churches. The territory of the church is surrounded by stones-menhirs, denoting sacred places.
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin is located in an amazing place - on the top of a hill, from where the whole Vorokhta is visible at a glance.
