Description of the attraction

Novoplanovsky Bridge is located in one of the most beautiful cities in Ukraine - Kamenets-Podolsk and connects the two banks of the Smotrych River. Kamyanets-Podilskyi ranks third in Ukraine in terms of the number of architectural monuments after Kiev and Lvov. There are about two hundred of them in it, and the Novoplanovsky bridge is one of them.

Before the construction of the Novoplanovsky bridge, the development of the eastern bank of the Smotrich River was carried out. And on January 31, 1874, the grand opening of this bridge took place, which became a rather important milestone in the life of the ancient city of Kamenets-Podolsky. This beautiful historical city finally managed to finally break free from the already tight loop, which was formed by the Smotrych River, into new and tempting expanses for it.

The seven-pass bridge is thrown over an extraordinary beauty canyon, its main and main function is to connect the Old City with the New.

The huge and powerful bridge was built according to the project developed by the provincial architect Peske, and the famous architect Kostenetsky supervised the construction of the bridge. The total length of the bridge is 149 meters and its height is about 38 meters. The most ancient street of the New City - the street of Knyazey Koriatovichi - originates from the Novoplanovsky bridge.

Walking along this bridge, the tourist has an unforgettable impression of the panoramic beauty that opens before his eyes. On the left side, you can see the old Pottery Tower, which hangs over the Smotrych River and gives the impression that it is about to fall into it. This tower was built with funds from the pottery workshop in the 16th century.

On the right side of the Novoplanovsky bridge there is a stone staircase, going down which you can see a wobbly suspension bridge, which, before the appearance of Novoplanovsky, was the only option for a passage from the New city to the Old.
