Description of the attraction
One of the most interesting and popular attractions of the beautiful Greek island of Rhodes is undoubtedly the unique Museum of Honey and Beekeeping, located in the small village of Pastida. This is the only museum of its kind in Greece.
The museum was founded by Melissokomiki Dodecanesou, the largest producer of honey and other beekeeping products in the Dodecanese archipelago. The products of this company are known throughout the country and are of high quality, which is carefully controlled.
The exposition presented in the museum perfectly illustrates the history of the development of beekeeping on the island of Rhodes, which dates back more than two centuries. Here you can see an excellent collection of special tools and equipment of beekeepers, get acquainted with the old and modern methods of all processes of production of honey, beeswax, propolis, royal jelly, etc., as well as watch the magical world of bees through the glass walls of the hives and learn a lot interesting about their life. By appointment, you can visit a modern production facility. Guided tours of the museum are both group and individual.
On the territory for guests there is a cozy recreation area with an excellent playground. You should definitely take a walk in the picturesque bee garden.
After a very informative excursion, you can purchase honey, pollen, royal jelly, wax, traditional melekouni sweets, as well as various cosmetic products (soaps, gels, shampoos, etc.) based on honey in the company store of excellent quality.
