Description of the attraction
The church of the Mother of God of Fatima in the city of Lyuban began to be built in 1990 at the expense of the Catholic parish. Due to lack of funds, the temple was built for a very long time. By 2006, it had not yet been completed. Despite the fact that the church was not completed, it was opened for parishioners already in 1993.
The church is dedicated to the Fatima miracle of the Mother of God - one of the most mysterious and significant miracles of our time. On May 15, 1917, three children Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta were herding sheep in a meadow near the small Portuguese town of Fatima. The children saw a flash like lightning and a shining Woman in white robes. The woman spoke to them in their native language. The children fell to their knees in awe. At first, the little shepherds decided not to tell the adults about anything, fearing that they would not be believed, but Jacinta could not resist and told her parents about everything. Many people began to gather in the meadow, where there was a miraculous phenomenon.
The Mother of God appeared to the children six times and spoke to them. A large number of people gathered in the meadow saw the glow and rustling sound, but could not make out the words, because the words were addressed only to children. The Mother of God predicted the seizure of power by the communists in Russia, two world wars and many disasters. She asked people to worship her Immaculate Heart in order to prevent the foretold troubles. She also asked to pray for Russia and dedicate this country to her in order to save her from godlessness.
The miracle of the Mother of God of Fatima is one of the main shrines for Catholics, at the same time, the Orthodox Church rejects it. The Church of the Fatima Mother of God became possible to build in Belarus only after the collapse of the USSR, when the communist regime was overthrown and the believers were able to build a temple dedicated to the Immaculate Heart of the Virgin Mary.
The temple contains the image of the Fatima Mother of God. A Sunday school for children and a children's church choir are organized here.
