Description of the attraction

The open-air museum of the history of agriculture of Volyn is located 12 kilometers from the city of Lutsk, in the urban-type settlement Rokynia, on Shkolnaya street, 1. The museum was opened in 1979. It was founded by the famous historian, ethnographer and publicist Alexander Nikolaevich Seredyuk, who on over the years he collected various relics of the Volyn past, which eventually became a unique property. Thanks to his efforts, a real museum was created from scratch. All exhibits for this open-air museum were collected by hand, at the cost of organizational efforts and numerous trips and trips, hiking and local history hikes and excavations, meetings with old residents of this region.

The exposition of the museum, located in eight halls, tells about the history of the village, the development of agriculture in different periods, as well as about the nature and ecology of this region. One of the sections of the museum exposition is devoted to the history of Ukrainian statehood.

In 1989, on the territory of the Rokinovsky arboretum, work began on the creation of the currently operating open-air exposition, which presents the sights of ancient economic, housing and backyard wooden construction: a church, a mill, a bathhouse, a windmill, a cloon, a barn, a barn, a cellar, white and smoke huts in 1875 and others. The main difference from similar open-air museums is that the permanent employees of this museum spend the night in their houses, keep cattle, heat stoves, bake bread and cultivate the land.

The Rokinovo open-air museum of the history of agriculture in Volyn offers its visitors a wide range of museum services - viewing exhibitions, organizing excursions and even horseback riding. Here you can also taste dishes of national cuisine, try ancient tools at work, swim in a pond and spend the night on fragrant hay. There is a school "Cossack hardening" at the museum.
