Description of the attraction
The Potocki Castle is an architectural monument located in the city of Ivano-Frankivsk. The castle was built by the voivode Andrei Pototsky himself.
The Kiev voivode decided to build a grandiose castle on the site of his father's wooden hunting lodge. Unfortunately, to date, only the palace fence made of stone has survived in its original form, on which you can still see knightly symbols. The palace building itself was rebuilt many times. The premises of the castle at different times were occupied by various military departments, which also affected its appearance.
In the post-war period, a military hospital was opened in the castle, which functioned here until 2004. Today the castle is privately owned, it is being restored and a museum and exhibition complex is planned to open. And although the gates, decorated with mystical symbols, are constantly closed, numerous tourists come to admire the castle every year. It is also a favorite place for wedding photo shoots.
The Potocki Palace is located at the address - Hospitalnaya Street, 2, Ivano-Frankivsk.
