One of the largest zoological parks in the United States, Los Angeles was founded in 1966 and today covers more than 50 hectares. The Los Angeles Zoo is home to over 1,000 animals representing two hundred and fifty different species. The most popular stands and displays in the park are the Gorilla Sanctuary, the Red Monkey Forest and the Elephants of Asia.
Los Angeles Zoo and Botanical Gardens
In 2002, a botanical garden appeared on the territory of the park, and the official name of the Los Angeles Zoo now looks like this. The flora of the planet is represented here very impressively - more than 7,400 plants of 800 species delight the eyes of park visitors.
California's most imposing zoological park complex, the Asia Elephants Pavilion appeared here in 2010. More than $ 40 million was spent on its equipment. The exposition not only demonstrates the customs and habits of elephants, but also tells visitors about their role in the economy and national economy of the Southeast Asian countries.
Pride and achievement
The Los Angeles Zoo takes pride in many of the pavilions. For example, orangutans live in the aviary, where the climatic conditions of the island of Borneo are recreated, and the exhibition "Rainforests of South America" offers to get acquainted with the fauna of Patagonia and Mexico.
Every day, except Tuesday, at 11.30 and 15.30, the "World of Birds" show takes place in the park, showing visitors rare and endangered birds.
Young visitors are delighted to play with pets at the Muriel Ranch in the park.
