Description of the attraction
Romanesque house - a building that was erected in Porec in the 13th century. The house is located at the very beginning of Decumanus street, not far from Marafor square.
The Romanesque house was rebuilt and reconstructed several times, and the last such changes the building underwent, most likely in the 18th century, when a wooden balcony was added to the second floor. In 1926, another reconstruction was carried out, the result of which was the transformation of the building into an exhibition space.
Despite the fact that various events were held in the house, it retained the same spirit inherent in old residential buildings.
The features of the Romanesque house are simple and honest, the interior is without any internal partitions. Raw stone blocks were used as material for the building. The main façade window is a typical Romanesque bifora. An external staircase complements the building.
Until the end of World War II, the Romanesque house was part of the buildings destroyed during the bombing. Later, the government of Porec decided not to restore them, so today the building is an independent object.
